Discover Pendle Hill
Pendle Hill stands 557 metres (1,827 ft) above sea level and is located east of Lancashire near the towns of Burnley, Colne, Clitheroe, Padiham and Nelson; an area known as Pendleside. It is the perfect walkers holiday destination and offers fantastic views of the surrounding area; on a good day you can even see the coast.
The hill sits with the Pennies to its east and the Forest of Bowland to the north-west so there are plenty of walks for each day close by. In fact, the Forest of Bowland has be classified as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) so also worth a visit.
As you walk along this beautiful terrain you can sense its long and eventful history. At the summit an ancient burial site was discovered but it is more famous for the Pendle Witches. In 1612 ten people were executed on the moors about Lancaster, having been found guilty of witchcraft at Lancaster Castle and today you can take a tour of the Pendle Witch Trail and learn more about the events and lives of the people persecuted.
