Join us this Winter at Laythams
Winter is beautiful. The crisp, cool air that nips at your nose and the frost on the floor that tickles your toes. With the Christmas markets starting to pop up nearby and the hymn of carols beginning to play, even the scrooges out there have to accept that it’s time to start preparing for that special day. And what a better way to do that than by spending it at Laythams?
Make arrangements now to avoid missing out on some of the fantastic events being held near us. For example, the Crafty Vintage Festive Market at Holmes Mill. With gorgeous gifts and tasty treats from some of the finest makers in the country. Join in on the 10th December for free.
If you miss out on that then don’t fret, every Saturday in December Clitheroe hosts it’s Christmas Markets. With a variety of local musicians from brass bands to street theatre joining the stalls, this is the place to be during this festive season.
If the winter wonderland that surrounds Laythams is the reason for your visit then make sure you make the most of the beautiful walks around us. To ensure you stay safe, here’s our top tips for walking in the cold:
- Make sure you’re dressed suitably, wrap up warm and wear a hat and gloves. The higher up you walk the colder and windier it gets. Prepare for all eventualities and wear sensible footwear. That fascinatingly frosty floor is deceivingly slippy.
- Carry a mobile phone with you at all times, although signal is shaky up on the hills you can still make emergency calls whether you have signal or not. Call 112 for less dire emergencies or if you need instant help then dial 999.
- Pack spare food and clothes. The outdoors is treacherous, gruelling work, make sure you have plenty of fuel to keep you going through the whole day and spare clothes in case you get damp.
- Check the weather ahead of time, if the weather is predicted to be too extreme then avoid going out at all. Make sure you know your route and inform others so that they know where to find you if you were to get stuck.
If walking isn’t your cup of tea then stay in, put your feet up and relax in front of the fire at our 5* Lakehouse. Make the most of this festive season and book now to avoid disappointment.
